Can someone 'esplain' to me why Herschel's head was still alive?

By the end of the Talking Dead, they mentioned what I was already thinking by the end of the episode...I began to wonder about a Michonne/Rick 'ship. You have to kill the brain, Haunted, cutting the head off isn't enough. And everyone's infected, so, you die, you turn.
I gots to admit I didn't understand the comment until it was explained in The Talking Dead, then I loved it
You realize you can get side-swiped asking this question, but here goes. Can someone 'esplain' to me why Herschel's head was still alive?
Brain contains the 'life' (such as it is). Since his brain wasn't broken, his head was still alive...ishCan someone 'esplain' to me why Herschel's head was still alive?
AW MAN! That's EXACTLY the stuff I miss on Talking Dead--lolGreg Nicotero pulled out the head for the benefit of the Talking Dead's audience and Chris Hardwick fed it pudding....
@FlakeNoir does it make you feel awkward that now I find you very attractive?

Hmmm interesting point.I wondered about that too. I thought beheading was final. Is beheading someone, who is already a zombie, final? If not, Michonne is leaving a lot of talking heads behind
Ok ok ok....well I kinda knew they'd leave us hanging in the 1st episode as to what the majority were doing.I was honestly a bit excited when I thought we might have actually been done with Rick...ahh but no such luck. Maybe he can stop being a dick sometime soon then if he is to stay around. Very cool to get a look back at Michonne...she is awesome, and that whole scene was so eerie and weird with her and her family. Yuss. Carl is gonna be one seriously bad-ass man, provided he makes it. Also, Daryl is sexy. I wished to view him. Next week methinks.
