Anyone read him? I adore Swan Song.

McCammon is one of my favorite authors and Swan Song is among his best. A Boy's Life is generally considered his best, but SS is probably my favorite. "MIne" is great as well. I like them all. There is a book store in Alabama that sells many of McCammon's books signed by him at retail prices. If you are going to buy them, it is great to get a signed copy and their service is excellent. Alabama Booksmith.

Today the mailman delivered the slip cased signed limited edition of The Listener. I can't wait to start it!

My copy is on the way too. I've already read the book though. Pretty good. Maybe not the best from McCammon but definitely an entertaining read. "Cardinal Black" is next up. The Matthew Corbett series is outstanding. Can't wait for that one. Anyone who hasn't read that series should really give it a try.

So, I'm about 3/5 of the way through this book and I have to say that I am really enjoying it. McCammon has created some unforgettable characters here and the story line is great. My big complaint is that Cemetery Dance charged $125 for a signed and slipcased book that should have only cost $60-75. The page count clocks in at 332 pages. I paid $150 for a signed slipcased edition of Swan Song from Subterranean Press with a page count of 798, which is over twice the pages of Cemetery Dance's edition. Hmmmmm…………..

Some interesting new info on McCammon's website. Cardinal Black is out Jan. 29 and the next Matthew Corbett book is title "King of Shadows." If I understood correctly, there will be a MC-related short story made available on his website at some point. Anyone who wants a signed copy of Cardinal Black should keep an eye on Alabama Booksmith. McCammon usually signs new books for them. Good deal to get the new book at retail signed by the author.

I have problem finding the matthew corbett books at reasonable prices. have the first two and Freedom of the mask but want the others too.
So far A Boys Life is my favorite. Masterpiece!!!

Mister Slaughter shows up on eBay from time to time, but Subterranean Press recently announced that they're reprinting the trade hardcover.

Subterranean Press Reprinting Mister Slaughter by Robert McCammon

Alabama Booksmith has The River of Souls, signed, at the original publisher's price:

The River of Souls | The Alabama Booksmith

Unfortunately, The Providence Rider is currently out-of-print, and eBay and ABE are your best bets.

Hunter- what's the story on Rick leaving Subterranean Press and going with Cemetery Dance for the publication of his novels? It sure came as a shock to me when it was announced a while back. I've seen/heard nothing about why this happened. Was Rick not happy with Sub Press? I thought they did a great job with his books and they were able to keep the prices pretty reasonable. I'm still somewhat bent out of shape that I paid $125 for the CD limited edition of The Listener. The price of this edition should have been about $75 at the most.

All I can say is that Rick chose to find a new home for his books. He has his reasons, but I'm not going to discuss them.

As for the cost of the limited of The Listener, I wasn't privy to the negotiations or decisions that were made. I thought Cemetery Dance did a nice very nice job, though it could have been better. (The plain slipcase was my only disappointment, especially after their casemaker took so long to make them.)

Is there is any possibility that McCammon squeezes in another short Trevor Lawson-vampire book before completing the Corbett series? I really enjoy those and hope when all is said and done they are published in one volume.

It doesn't look like it. While he had planned to do two more Trevor Lawson novellas, his departure from Subterranean likely means they won't happen. But who knows? His plans have changed several times, so anything's possible. Time will tell!
