I just caught Pet Sematary 2 for the first time in its entirety -- saw bits and pieces before -- and I am very curious if anyone agrees that it actually isn't bad.
It was fun and weird. The oddest thing about the film -- and I assume this is because of the budget -- is that it is one of those movies where people do outrageous things but don't really react or comment on them. As an example, the dog comes back to life, and -- nobody exclaims about it. It's just accepted, not a big deal.
The acting was not good, there should have been more exposition, etc. In fact, why didn't we get a big explanation scene about the burial ground, maybe more info about it? That would have enriched the film.
But on another level, I'm not kidding -- I liked it. It was what it was and made no pretense about anything else. It doesn't challenge, it invites you to spend some time with a disposable film.
Some parts of the set-up, though, honestly -- I could see King having come up with a lot of it.
