I've been meaning to start reading him for a while but never got around to it, which book is recommended to begin with?

Moderator - might be opening a can of worms, but is there is list of SK books classified according to genre? Often though that might help a newcomer to chose a specific book to their liking.Welcome to the Board! (That's not a book title but thought I should say that first. )
Do you have any special interest or genre that appeals to you? Stephen isn't just about horror so there are a lot of directions this could go in if you have a preference.
It's not something we've ever done here but there might be one out there somewhere on the 'net.Moderator - might be opening a can of worms, but is there is list of SK books classified according to genre? Often though that might help a newcomer to chose a specific book to their liking.
I almost recommended Pet Sematary but wondered, due to many members' response to it, whether that one would be the best starter idea.If you're a psychological horror fan, you could do worse than to start with something pretty dark, like the collection of novellas Full Dark No Stars. If you like your horror more visceral, then might I recommend Pet Sematary or Cell?
Hello, I'm rather new here, but a fan for a long time. I started reading Stephen King's work ( in its original language) about 20 odd years ago and the first book was the short stories collection, 'Night shift'. I never forget 'Graveyard Shift', creepy and atmospheric. A real good introduction to the Master, with bags of atmosphere.
