So, I very recently read "The Gunslinger" after years of refusing too because "I can do SciFi movies but I can never get through the books." The reason I finally decided to give it a go is that I read somewhere, at his book readings Mr.King likes to ask if anyone has read any of The Dark Tower books. Usually less then half have.
Well, I'm going to his Toronto stop for Sleeping Beauties, so I decided I would try it. I bought The Gunslinger and after reading the foreword Mr. King wrote, I was even less enthusiastic about it! That being said, I LOVED IT! I was stunned reading it at how much it captured me, and I actually cursed myself for starting a new series cause I have so many books on my to 'read' list (all Stephen of coarse - I'm young so I have a lot of catching up to do.)
Anyways, I no longer think he'll be asking if anyone has read any of the DTs because of the movie. But I'm super happy I read it, and am now on The Drawing of the Three!
