"Download some software for your phone that lets the Camera relay ALL pixel events (with a base level cutoff). Then you cover your lense with multiple layers of tape, and leave it in a box for a while. This lets you see many high energy particle strikes on the camera CCD panel.
You'll see that they aren't rare events. In Mars' atmosphere they're even more common."

I'm not even going to consider an alien explanation. Looks like a photographic light smear from a distant star/planet on the horizon, or a reflection. What would be most exciting to me would be if it were some kind of vapor plume, which could indicate subterranean liquid.
