Photographer Joshua Hoffine interprets archetypes of childhood fear. This is cool stuff. (And he's in Kansas City!) http://www.joshuahoffine.com/

Here's an example, but definitely check out his site.

I'll check this out later . . .thanks~

There's another photographer that takes photos of children in distress . . .I'll see if I can find him and pass it along. Beautiful shots but very controversial.
All of my children sitting in Santa's lap those first few years qualify for that - I should sell them! Frightened little screaming boogers they were!

....to me, these are MORE horrifying...a child's pain....what would prompt a photographer to think this was a good idea, and how did they make them cry???....
Oh, I don't know. Crying is one of a toddler's primary ways of interacting with the world. :p Witness: Reasons My Son Is Crying

I think with the Jill Greenberg series, most of the time she offered candy and then took it back. So basically pulled the jerk older sibling move ... no permanent harm done.

I'm not into this photo either for the same reasons .... what does one have to do to prompt a child to cry like this ??? or does this photographer just follow kids around all the time and prays he catches them crying ?

Really, no permanent harm done ? That remains to be seen .... It might would be interesting later on what this child remembers or not .... or why she might have a distrust of people ....

Pretty frickin' mean just to take a picture ... sorry .... this is not my cup of tea ....
