Put down that Depp magazine and get your butt over to the bookshelf now!I haven't read it yet.....
...the blending of Steve's and Peter's work is nearly flawless...it's a challenge to pick up where on left off and the other grabs the thread of the story and runs...and, a goodly portion of that time-you'll be wrong...they really ARE that good together...Ok, I'm officially intrigued. I kind of skimmed these posts because I've never read it but the synopsis has me very interested. I think I might know my next big read after I finish doctor sleep (only 110 pages in so far). The only thing that puts me off is that it's not just sk - I know I should read other authors, but I have only been reading proper novels for 3 years and I only started because I wanted to read IT.

This was the first SK book to make me cry.
I've posted this before, but here it is again. The saddest exchange in any SK book.
"Wolf collapsed like a falling tree.
Jack knelt, turned him over. The hair was melting away from Wolf's cheeks with the eerie speed of time-lapse photography. His eyes had gone hazel again. And to Jack he looked horribly tired.
"Jacky--" Wolf raised a bloody hand and touched Jack's cheek.
"Shoot...you? Did he..."
"No," Jack said, cradling his friend's head. "No, Wolf, never got me. Never did."
"I..." Wolf's eyes closed and then opened slowly again. He smiled with incredible sweetness and spoke carefully, enunciating each word, obviously needing to convey this if nothing else. "I...kept...my herd...safe."
I can think of one other that equals it...two simple words..."I ake"

I gave this book to Evan to read after he finished EotD but he didn't get very far. I thought he was going to love it and told him it starts just a little slow, but he just didn't have the patience I guess. I wish he would have made it to where Jack really starts travellin', I KNOW he would like it. We'll try it again in a year or so, maybe.
He loved EotD though, so I'ma gonna make an SK fan out of him yet! Trying to be selective about the content is a little difficult for me, since he is just about at the age I was when I started reading SK. Funny how that changes when you're a parent!!
Jack is a secret crush that i still hold in my heart. 'Black House' just wasn't the same for me....
i'll always picture him as that brave, beautiful boy who risked everything just to save his mom. That's the boy i will always love.
