Andy loves Heinz Beinz - he says the ones here in Canada aren't the same :flat:

I believe it, these are probably what he remembers! On buttered toast, with a smear of Marmite. Yum!

Do they have a can with balls and bangers, Neesy?
We have only had the ones like the picture kingZ posted. He had to go to a British shop to buy them as they were imported. Unfortunately they have closed the shop and restaurant and suddenly took off for home (guess they missed England)

Have you always lived in Florida Spideyman? At this time of year your state starts to look awfully inviting (especially as one gets older!) like me

I spend my youth, teens years and early adulthood in NY/NJ. Been in FL for 45 years now. Winters are awesome, but the older I get the more I dislike the summer tropical season. I do miss the snow- it's beauty, not the black ice, shoveling and driving in it.

Marmite? - yuk! Is that like a Vegamite sandwich? In Scotland if you are from a certain part of Glasgow you call it a "sang-widge" as in "Would you like me to make you a sangwidge?" :miserable:
Very like Vegamite, which is the Australian brand. Not quite the same flavour, Marmite is one of the supplies we send to our son in OZ.

Sorry - it probably tastes good - I meant no offence. It just doesn't sound too tasty to me, that's all! :hmm: It's supposed to be quite good for you - ask FlakeNoir - she's from NZ - maybe they have it there too :chew:

No need to say sorry, as I said it's an acquired taste, if you like savoury things it might be for you. It's has a beef stock like flavour , similar to Bovril. Don't tell me you haven't heard of that other!:erm:

Oh yes - Andy is actually a chef believe it or not but he is up North in Baker Lake Nunavut so isn't around at the moment. Scottish chefs are not as well know as say - chefs from Gay Purree :m_pan: but he is an excellent chef just the same). I look forward to him coming back home at Christmas. We have some Bovril in the house right now

Right on, in which case you'd probably like Marmite. They do Marmite crisps which are good, and even tried Marmite chocolate which was very odd! Although my wife loved it, but then again she must be a bit odd coz' look who she married!

Guess I better get on the blower to the guy we contracted to do the garage - still no electricity or double doors on our garage. Plus the roof needs to be done (just the basic pressboard up there now) and it is getting very cold here! :blue::grey::cold:

At one time I was building "maintenance-free" garages for $12/sq foot...site prep extra/varies...that included a floating slab, steel roof, vinyl siding...maintenance-free...and that's why I'm still driving a model-2000-year pickup. :) But I had fun. Call BR-549...let me repeat that...that's BR-549. I'm Walter Oobleck and I've approved this message...whether or not the mod does is another story! :)

So I did call and guess what? Someone will be here tomorrow around 8 a.m. to put in the electricity. Plus two guys in a truck came over with a trailer and a load of gravel. Don't know why but they poured a big slab of concrete in October yet did not do the finishing edge so there was a 15 1/2 inch drop from the floor to the back lane. My neighbour piled a bunch of left over gravel on one side but half of the concrete still had an abrupt drop-off (if you can picture it?)

So once the electricity is installed then I guess the next thing will be to get the big double-size door and a remote so it can go up and down. He installed a back door facing the house and left a spot for a window but there is no window yet (???) What will they do? Just cut a hole and put the window in?
