Are you left handed?

I write and draw with my left hand. But, having been an instructor, I discovered that on a blackboard I actually prefer writing with my right hand. I don't know what happened in my case, because writing/drawing is the only thing I do lefthanded. Oh, and I have tried shooting, and although I hold the gun in the right hand, I desperately want to aim with my left eye. Not a very good shot, in other words.

I do most things left handed, except for the things I do right handed. I write left handed, but throw right handed. I bat left handed, but play guitar right handed. I eat and shoot left handed, kick with my right foot, and drive on the right side of the road. (Wait, I guess that last one doesn't count, right?)
I do drive on the left... (probably doesn't count either...) :biggrin2:

Tracy is absolutely right!

I find it funny how many lefties eat with their right hand - I'm thinking it's because we end up bumping elbows with the person on our left if we don't. I can't do anything (except my computer mouse) right handed. I'm an utter slob when I try to eat right handed. Not worth the mess - I just try to always sit on the very left of the table.

Ha this is a difficult question for me..I throw a baseball, and bat, lefthanded, but write and shoot a handgun righthanded..a rifle or shotgun is lefthanded..but not truly ambidextrous,as trying to write with my left hand is very awkward.I think it hails back to kindergarden catholic school, where the nuns really weren't enamored with lefty's..so they tried to "encourage" right handed writing..

You reminded me. My sisters daughter was a leftie, but her step dad stopped it. He always made her switch things to her right hand. He was a leftie and in school the teachers always rapped him on the hand with a ruler. To save her from that, he did it before she started school.

Aw - that's so sad and sweet!
My grandfather told me the same thing - he was left handed but when he started school the teacher forced him to be right handed.

What do I get for being ambidextrous?
It sounds more impressive than it is. In reality, it just means my handwriting is terrible no matter what. Proper 'drunk spider dipped in ink' time.
What I will say is that I prefer writing right-handed, just as I prefer to chuck darts with my left. And I never need to use the rest when playing snooker or pool.

@mustangclaire: IIRC sinistra is Italian for 'left' (or a sinistra = on the left (side)), so there's probably a link back to a common Latin root.
