We live in a fairly small town. My hubby works with a man who is the victim of a home invasion. Can"t seem to find it on our local news. Anyway he and his wife are both in the hospital. She was pistol whipped and he was shoot in the kidneys and liver. All because he opened the door when a woman said her car was broken down. So he went to help her. He got back home got another knock on the door and this all happen. Only 8 o'clock in the evening. Scary makes you want to not help people. I pray he and his family will be ok. No news about his children so far. This world is getting crazier and crazier. Thats I just needed to get this off my mind.

Prayers and good thoughts for the family. May the children be safe and cared for until parents are back home.
The world did move on, and people just aren't safe anymore. I can remember days of unlocked doors, children walking down the road to visit friends-- all without fear of something terrible happening.

Oh wow, that's absolutely awful news...and extremely frightening! I'm shocked the local news aren't reporting what's happened as a matter of urgency, not trying to scare you but until those maniacs are caught everybody has the potential to be victimised in their own home. I'd be making sure this news travels fast via word of mouth as quickly as possible, people need to be aware. Hope the husband recovers from his injuries...and you all take care!

I didn't really think of it that way, be goodness he only lives a few miles from us.

Healing vibes for the family's physical and emotional injuries. I hope these people are caught soon so that no one else has this happen and I agree with Ally that people should be aware it happened so that they can be on guard.

That's terrifying! Don't open your door for strangers anymore - and that's sad that you can't be helpful and kind, but that's the world we live in.

Sorry if that frightens you, but these people have obviously went out of their way to target this family in their own home. It sounds so similar to various home invasion movies from the last few years that it's unnerving! Anybody who could perform such an act is unstable...I'd be worried their antisocial behaviour will only escalate.

Just heard a clip of news. That the police have little detail at this point and have warned everybody in two miles not to open their doors.

Well since you say it's a small town you live in hopefully everybody will remain vigilant...forget that two miles nonsense, I wouldn't be opening my door to anyone I didn't know, no matter how far away I was from the crime scene.

the wife has been released from the hospital. Children are fine,Seems they weren't there at the time. The man is critical and will spent some time in the hospital. Has had some surgery already. So please pray for him and that he makes a decent recovery.

Now you'd think the evil people who did this wouldn't try it again in the same town but most criminals aren't too bright. Hopefully, they'll make some stupid move and be caught quickly.

Poor kids! Are they young? Nothing besides something happening to my kids/BH scares me more than home invasion. Around here, it usually comes down to the invader knowing or suspecting drugs or $ are kept in the house. I have neither (lol).
