Sorry Linda - I hope you and your family stay safe. Keep those doors locked and be wary of strangers knocking on your door at night.

I think those fiends targeted that couple as they knew they were elderly and not strong. People like that are disgusting - preying on the weakest members of humanity.

We live in a fairly small town. My hubby works with a man who is the victim of a home invasion. Can"t seem to find it on our local news. Anyway he and his wife are both in the hospital. She was pistol whipped and he was shoot in the kidneys and liver. All because he opened the door when a woman said her car was broken down. So he went to help her. He got back home got another knock on the door and this all happen. Only 8 o'clock in the evening. Scary makes you want to not help people. I pray he and his family will be ok. No news about his children so far. This world is getting crazier and crazier. Thats I just needed to get this off my mind.

Just a bit of an update. The man and his wife are doing well. Both are recentily back to work. however, now when answering there door everyone is greeted knowing they have a gun. Anyhow, one of the suspects
has been caught. Kind of said outcome. He is being deported as he is an illegal immigrant. He also refuses to talk about the other two suspects. Was hoping for charges of attempted murder and a prison sentence.

That event would have most likely ended very differently at my house. I hope I never have to find out.....:twitchy:
With the right training, hopefully so. But who knows if this individual has weapons in his house and knows how to use them? It's almost a bad gamble to open one's door to any stranger at all. When my parents moved in I maintained the habit of keeping the doors locked for their protection. I still do it now despite their being gone. I guess if it's someone I do not know, unless they're in a USPS or UPS uniform and there's a corresponding vehicle in the driveway [dooryard], if they say they have an emergency, need to use the phone, I'll be more than happy to call 911 for them.

Not long ago someone was going around to houses in my neighborhood. I wasn't home at the time; my neighbor told me about it. I can't remember what the lady was doing, but someone called the cops and the cops said that what she was doing was illegal, and they came by. So, even if someone doesn't mean harm exactly there are laws in place for the protection of society at large. Nowadays it's too much of a gamble to do what we used to take for granted as safe.

Some crimes are worse than just the instant effects.

That one will leave emotional scars that could potentially lead the innocents involved down a dark path.

I have weapons (lethal and non -- no guns though, damnit) secreted all over my house. I truly feel that shiziety is about to break way down.

Time to cull the herd, I guess.

A Bryan prayer sent out to the family.
