I Am Happy Today Because . . .

I'm happy today because I'm making sweet progress on a speech for one of my college classes.
I got a new keyboard today. The letters are bigger, and it lights up in the dark. I needed this!
Me too. I shall try to find one that lights up.
I just scored an amazing hand bag on Goodwill auction site.
There's a storm brewing. I think it might be a big one - hooray. I might catch a ride to Oz.
Please feel free to skip this rhyme; just tooting my own horn.
Normally, I do not like to brag, so I was torn.
Still, I'd like to share it so I'll screw humility;
Poet Spotlight's featured poet for the month is me.
I was thrilled when I was asked (although it's a mistake)
There's a hundred poets more deserving of this break.
I am not a poet; I just have a knack for rhyme
And, before you ask, I didn't pay these guys a dime.
When I tried to warn them that their judgement was impaired,
Wanting to insure their reputation would be spared,
No-one chose to change their mind (at least, they haven't yet)
Clearly, they're still unaware of how bad this could get.

I am happy today because after all these years I still have friends, many of whom have been friends all these years despite my unbelievable failings, weaknesses, and harmful ways which have directly effected some of them.

I'm happy because after a lifetime of failure at growing plants, an avocado seed rescued from a batch of guacamole now has about thirteen leaves sprouted in the planter and is still looking green and happy.

I am happy because my guitar is in tune. I found a whole bunch of old song books and recognized many of them for $1.69 each at Goodwill. 8)
