I'm posting this here again, my own little soapbox message.

I would like to encourage the women especially (although men can get breast cancer too) on this board to make their own deodorant. There are some super good natural recipes out there.

I just read a report a couple days ago that said that it was a myth that deodorants and anti-perspirants cause breast cancer. I'm sorry, my opinion only, but I don't believe that one bit. We are taking chemicals and putting it in an area that is thick with breast tissue.

A lot of women shave (and some don't) but for those ones who do, I think we open up pores and hair follicles and it's just more little openings for all these chemicals to seep down into that delicate breast tissue.

So, I went to my craft store and got some pretty containers and I'm going to make my own deodorant. I've used natural for years, but this is pennies on the dollar to make, so I'm going to give it a go.

For those of you who have used the traditional corporation poisons, it does take your armpits some adjusting time to acclimate to the use of the new stuff, which takes a couple weeks to a month. You'll know when you've adjusted. If you're worried about smell, just make sure you carry it with you and use it a couple times during the day until your armpits surrender to it. lol!

You can put this in a pretty container face-cream-type pot, apply with fingers or make-up sponge, or you can put it in an old stick deodorant container or health food stores sell new ones.

Anyway, if changing your deodorant saves one of you from getting breast cancer, my babbling was worth it.

Dana, what about the stuff Whole Foods sells? I haven't used "traditional" deodorant in years because of the aluminum. I even got my husband to make the switch this year, though I never knew of the idea that deodorant causes breast cancer. I'd just heard enough about "normal" stuff being bad for you. And can you provide a link for those who might be interested in making their own?

This is just my personal opinion that deodorants can cause breast cancer. I just feel there are so many chemicals in deodorant that we put directly onto an area we shave, sweat glands and hair follicles and tiny little openings for it all to seep in.

I still use the store bought organic stuff too, when I'm too lazy to make a new batch. You do have to be careful with essential oils you add because each individual can be sensitive to one.

Just go to pinterest and they have a ton of recipes and pick one that you think will work best for you.
