Most influential musician/group in the last 30 years

By the end of the term, I have to write a paper abut who I think is the most influential musician/group of the last 30 years--who will be remembered 50 years from now. It's sparked quite a few interesting dinner table discussions at mi casa! So, since I know many of us are music lovers, I 'm...

I might be swimming against the tide, but...

I think Ernest Hemingway, J.D. Salinger, and Jack Kerouac are overrated. And Chuck Palahniuk and Jonathan Franzen are irritating. And I like being a SAHM, most of the time :) Where do you swim against the current? (Please, no politics or religion. I'm weary unto death of those topics.)

    All Hallow's Read

I think Neil Gaiman had a great idea a few years ago: give a horror book for Halloween! So, I have a question: If you were going to give one scary Stephen King book to someone, which one would it be? What horror book by anyone else?

How much Stephen King have you read?

How Much Stephen King Have You Read Ran across this on BuzzFeed, so I had to take it (my kids are laughing at my dorkiness). I knew I'd missed Faithful, but forgot about The Plant. Is the unfinished portion still available anywhere?

    "SPAMMER"

What happens if you click the 'spammer' heading on the home page? I'm just curious (but not curious enough to risk marking myself as a spammer--lol).

    How does your garden grow?

It's that time of year! I was wondering if we have any gardeners in the Tet? I've planted radishes, peas, and lettuces so far--not safe to plant anything else here before Mother's Day :) We have a medium plot for vegetables, an herb garden, and some pots about for other things. It's sort of an...

    Speaking of good books...

BBC Believes You Only Read 6 of These Books... - How many have you read? I saw this on FB this morning and had to take a stab at it. I've read 74 of the 100--I have some catching up to do :) There were a few that I'd never heard of before, and some that are questionable as 'classics', but it...

The interior language of a marriage

I've been thinking about John D. quite a bit lately, and how very much he loved Lisey's Story. Being superstitious as hell about going with your gut and the messages it wants to give you, I pulled it off the shelf after a very long time. And now I remember why I've only read it once before: I...

    Readers And Book Trailers

I don't often start threads (y'all are just so interesting that it keeps me busy enough;DD), but I'm truly curious about this: how many of you watch book trailers? Has one ever convinced you to buy (or not buy) a book? I honestly don't watch them (not even my own, to the publicist's angst-lol)...
