This is the original poem. I'll have to get my daughter to email me the artwork she did for the print.

Little Orphant Annie
. Little Orphant Annie's come to our house to stay,
An' wash the cups an' saucers up, an' brush the crumbs away,
An' shoo the chickens off the porch, an' dust the hearth, an' sweep,
An' make the fire, an' bake the bread, an' earn her board-an'-keep;
An' all us other childern, when the supper-things is done,
We set around the kitchen fire an' has the mostest fun
A-list'nin' to the witch-tales 'at Annie tells about,
An' the Gobble-uns 'at gits you
Ef you
Don't
Watch
Out!
Wunst they wuz a little boy wouldn't say his prayers, —
An' when he went to bed at night, away up-stairs,
His Mammy heerd him holler, an' his Daddy heerd him bawl,
An' when they turn't the kivvers down, he wuzn't there at all!
An' they seeked him in the rafter-room, an' cubby-hole, an' press,
An' seeked him up the chimbly-flue, an' ever'-wheres, I guess;
But all they ever found wuz thist his pants an' roundabout: —
An' the Gobble-uns 'll git you
Ef you
Don't
Watch
Out!
An' one time a little girl 'ud allus laugh an' grin,
An' make fun of ever' one, an' all her blood-an'-kin;
An' wunst, when they was "company," an' ole folks wuz there,
She mocked 'em an' shocked 'em, an' said she didn't care!
An' thist as she kicked her heels, an' turn't to run an' hide,
They wuz two great big Black Things a-standin' by her side,
An' they snatched her through the ceilin' 'fore she knowed what she's about!
An' the Gobble-uns 'll git you
Ef you
Don't
Watch
Out!
An' little Orphant Annie says, when the blaze is blue,
An' the lamp-wick sputters, an' the wind goes woo-oo!
An' you hear the crickets quit, an' the moon is gray,
An' the lightnin'-bugs in dew is all squenched away, —
You better mind yer parunts, an' yer teachurs fond an' dear,
An' churish them 'at loves you, an' dry the orphant's tear,
An' he'p the pore an' needy ones 'at clusters all about,
Er the Gobble-uns 'll git you
Ef you
Don't
Watch
Out!

Thanks!! I think this will be Mom's favorite gift this year.

I wanted to also do 'The Raggedy Man' by the same author, because that was my brother's favorite poem when he was little.
It is four pages long though, and would probably make Mom cry.
Maybe do this for her some day with that. A few tears for a while, and then maybe a sense of peace and your brother's favorite giving smiles: (replace harry potter with The Raggedy Man poem.)

I'm almost recovered from hand surgery. I get the bandages off Tuesday and should then have close to full use of my hand again FINALLY. OF course, that means I'll have to do all the work I haven't done over the past two weeks. I hope you've all been doing great while I've been away!
...glad to hear you're recovering well!....give yourself a hand!!........

Neat idea, but I would read that over and over until it lost all meaning! That’s just I though—I have to be careful to keep things special by not letting them be overexposed.

I understand that.

Me? I wouldn't read that over and over. I would know the words were there as sort of a tribute to reading and writing and something that has given me inspiration. Watching over me so to speak. I just get a different vibe and to me, that makes it special.

Writing! Finally got off Facebook and told myself that if I'm not writing, I will be reading--because I reread that line of Mr. King that if you can't devote four to five hours reading or writing you have no business doing either. I am in a situation where I can do it--so I will. Dragging out the 340 hand written pages of my novel, I am plodding along typing the thing and realizing it is pretty good--I'm entertained by it anyway. Lots of mistakes though--but this is going to be my new normal. I am really fortunate that my husband mocks me when I am not writing--he calls me a slacker lol. This is good because I am a stick person not a carrot person. It's going to be a great day.

Work today. Conference call with the boss for my performance review. Turns out I’m a good dog and deserving of some treats.......

Tomorrow is our annual Unity Day. It’s a diversity celebration. I am playing bass for the organization’s band. Two half hour performances and a rehearsal first thing in the morning. My day tomorrow is pretty much booked!
