I was lucky enough to find this movie crop up on the cable channels, just a short time after I started getting into all things SK. I couldn't believe that Corey Haim was in it. And the guy who plays the sheriff, and the uncle, and the preacher man! I loved the guy who plays the priest, I recently saw him while watching Twin Peaks; I was really impressed by the gravity he brings to the part. There's a sequence were he's closing in on Haim's character, trapped on a closed out bridge, and he projects his dialogue in quite an amazing way (maybe sound editing had to do with it a little, but there's still a lot of presence from the actor).
I had Silver Bullet in the watching cue alongside another old werewolf movie called The Howling, so I've had a fun mini werewolf film festival all to myself. Oddly enough, some of those decades earlier special effects are more unnerving than I think a computer-generated transformation would be; I can't explain, but the older effects are somehow more frightening.
