I haven't put out the bird feeders yet, but I've noticed several redheaded woodpeckers in the yard. I've heard them in the trees, but haven't seen them until recently. The yellow finches are back an so are the black capped chickadees.
He was at the mixed seed feeder. White millet, sunflower seed , milo and corn. Was going to town on it which is weird because most birds here prefer the black-oil sunflower.
No birds are ever harmed......they even enjoy the dancingDon't harm my little Indigo.....

Grossbeaks? Is it's nickname Hillary? Not to interrupt the political/insect/blue raspberry debate, but...
We've had several of these guys - Rose-breasted Grosbeaks - this Spring. First time we've seen them at our feeders and we've been here for 11 years. Very pretty. Apparently they are migrating right now.

I’ve seen both of these red-headed woodpeckers at our suet feeder this spring.
We do get the pileated woodpecker on occasion in the yard digging in old stumps looking for grubs. You can walk up to about 10 feet away from them and they don't spook.
Funny thing is, we've mostly only seen the males. Only 2 females and upto 5 males at once. And they are LOVING the black sunflower seeds. Maybe they are full by the time they get up your way and letting the ladies catch up.I love those!! We get them later on. I love the way mister watches out for the misses as she eats all the seed and he gets none. Kind of like Out of Order's world.......LOL.
Do you get the yellow ones too, do1you9? Evening Grosbeaks?
Try a suet cage feeder with a berry mix. We put ours on the washline posts. We don't get either of those.....
That top one is technically a red-bellied woodpecker. We have a few of them, several downys, a few yellow-bellies and an occasional pileated. Hardly ever see a red-headed at our feeders though. Go figure.I’ve seen both of these red-headed woodpeckers at our suet feeder this spring.
