I read Pet Sematary for the first time when I was 15......back in 198mumble mumble.....
It is still the scariest story I have ever read
The entire time I was reading it, there was a huge stray cat that would come sit at my window every night....I remember reading it a few years after it came out and had to sleep with the light on in the hall for a while. Then my biggest mistake was rereading it after our first child was born, for me that was worse. Don't get me wrong I LOVE to be scared ****less, but the thought of losing a child drove me nuts. I thought my hair was going to turn white (like Lewis Creed's did) before I finished.

It gave me the creeps, and made me more than slightly paranoid
After I finished the book, the cat didn't show up again. I kept the book hidden in a dresser drawer, just in caseI'm sorry, but that would have freaked me to no end. I'm big on coincidence like that. For example, after watching Paranormal Activity 1 I nearly screamed when the comforter started moving around on the bed on its own one afternoon..........damn cats were hiding/snoozing there.......

Shortly after I read it, I moved to a rural area. One day on an afternoon walk, I stumbled upon a pet cemetery in the woods, back from the highway. It was very creepy. After that, whenever we had out-of-town visitors, we'd take them there. Those that hadn't read Pet Cemetery thought it was a sweet, lovely resting place for pets but people who had read the book found it creepy like me.
I think I would have moved to the next country.I think I would have hidden the book in the next county!
Um, was there a deadfall to the rear of the Semetary?

It would bother me as well.It really bothered me for a while.....
but I think I turned out alright
Disturbing is a nice word for that book.I honestly can't say I find any books "scary" although Pet Sematary was definately one of the more disturbing books I have read.
It's the latest Stephen King's novel that I've read, 1 week ago. I'm 46, and I also find that it's the scariest ! I finished reading it at 3:00 AM, alone in my appartment. Bad idea : I slept very, very bad, and of course I had a nightmare !I read Pet Sematary for the first time when I was 15......back in 198mumble mumble.....
