I Started to read it this following week, and I love it. It makes me WANT to read. Despite it being long, I've read much of it and find it to be amazing. 5 stars in my opinion, and the movie was great too. Preferred the book though.

Personally , I didn't understand it at all . It wasn't scary either and didn't seem to have much of a story line . I was really dissapoitned . I expected more from Stephen King .

I fall asleep any time i read for more then a couple of minutes so reading is quite hard to do. having the books adapted for the movies is amazing. The movies that scared me when I was younger do not have the same effect on me now. IT on the other hand is one of the most scarey movies ever. Even now It is still a challange to watch it in the dark!

This might very well be one of the best adaptations of a novel I have ever seen made for TV. I thought the casting was pitchperfect for both the adults and kids, standouts being Richard Thomas, John Ritter (RIP), Harry Anderson (In one of his only serious roles), Dennis Christopher. As for the kids, Johnthan Brandis (RIP), a very young Seth Green and Emily Perkins. I have to give a special consideration to Bradon Crane, whoi played young Haystack. He played off the tortured family and lovelorn character incredibly well, and I'm sad I haven't seen him in anything really since. Of course, you can't talk it and not talk about Tim Curry. His performance as Pennywise, whom some have called over the top... well, it needed to be. He brought alot of darkness to the character and, due to 1990's restrictions on violence on TV (Especially regarding children) the menace he brought to life was brilliant. Other than the unfortunately hokey spider-ending (Locked in from the novel, which lost the Turtle subplot because it would've been obviously too expensive) this is an adaptation gone horribly right. 9/10

Dear Mr. King of Horror... I am truly a big fan of your work IT.I think it was one of the most scariest minseries that made me change the way I think of clowns today. I like the fact of the 25th Anniversary of IT. My favorite part was when Pennywise plays a nasty plot on the "lucky seven" back in the summer of 1958. Even though the Ben, Richie, Bev, Stan, Mike, and Bill beat IT once, It seemed to came back in the cycle of about 27-28 years later. That was my favorite part. I am your fan of other of your works, but this one tops it off !

This book inspire me to be an author as a child of 10 i watched the movie another time after seeing the movie when i was not able to see what it really was.

BY FAR THE SCARIEST, HAUNTING PIECE OF WORK I EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF SEEING. I am already a clown a phobe, this movie was excellent but too scary for me to like. I cant even look at the cover without feeling creepy. Tim Curry(RIP) was excellent. Anybody who takes on the challenge to remake this has big shoes to fill, If you had to explain to a alien or someone from the future what Stephen King is all about, just show' em this (brrrr!)

When I was younger, my cousin showed me Georgie's death on YouTube and I felt petrified for a week. Later in the year, I had the courage to watch the whole movie. WICKED!!!!!!!!!

I love this freaking movie!!! A bit disappointed at the end though...and poor Georgie :( Although I'm a bit frightened of a sink now..

It is such a very good movie that anyone would probably like (considering they like Stephen King). I for one love it and hope all are interested in his books.

This is a very good movie. I haven't read the book yet, but I really want to. My favorite characters in this movie are Bill and Beverly. I always thought they would make a cute couple. But I know Ben and Beverly got together as adults, but I highly thought Stephen King should have put Bill and Beverly together. I also thought it would be funny if Beverly married Henry Bowers, but we know that would never happen in a million years. Anyways, this is one of Stephen King's best movies, and I can't wait to read the book!

First time I watched it, I stopped. Didn't like the movie. I had not read the book then. After I eventually read the book, I was able to enjoy the movie. I see more and more SK books coming out and I had thought he has said retired! Glad he didn't. Thanks Stephen!

This is the novel and movie that made me want to meet Stephen King face to face. It broke my heart reading this and it kills me everytime I watch the movie, which is at least twice a month. I cannot and will not understand why he exterminated Eddie Kasbrack.

I am not really sure about this film I thought it was terrible, but I just got it on DVD (I hadn't seen the whole movie) and was glad I gave it another watch liked it much better mostly for part 1 with them as kids because on that part I think it's more truthful to the novel (it may have changed the way some scenes were but still kept the emotion the book had). And at Dean: it is a MADE FOR TV MOVIE it never was in theatres, how could you have seen it in the theatres.
Posted By: Anonymous - October 12th, 2010 10:32:01 am EDT
i hear wat u r all sayin if it gets remade they need to make sure it has something to to do with the book like the characters n some of the things that go on in the book wasnt evem in the movie so ya the movie suck need to make a new IT something that is rite out of the book
Posted By: Anonymous - September 19th, 2010 10:54:14 pm EDT
The movie was a total joke, compared to the book. The characters were not the way(in the movie) they were meant to be in the book. The acting was awful, and there was no character development as in the book....I hope if it IS remade, it's done better this time...the "mini-series" sucked.

I love most of Stephen King's works, but thanks to my middle school drama teacher for showing this movie to a bunch of 11 years old in 6th grade --I still to this day can't bring myself to read the novel or finish the movie. I saw part of it, and then got a pass to go to the library during the rest of days she showed it. And to make matters worse, the school library for some odd reason had a display on clowns around the same time. I was one traumatized little kid for a while. Thankfully TV ratings exist nowadays. In 1996, IT was marked as Not Rated, making my teacher think it was okay to show.
Posted By: Danny - July 31st, 2010 11:25:56 am EDT
they are remaking it, it will be rated R so it wont be censored like the television version, but it will only be 2 and a half hours. So, i doubt it will be able to be really faithful to the book.

Am I hearing write? Are they remaking IT into a theatre movie
Posted By: Anonymous - July 9th, 2010 7:58:32 pm EDT
I don't know if these are monitored, but I see on the net that a remake IS being made of this! Can someone tell me if it's true?? I don't think they can outdo the first one! :)

I loved the movie as much as I love the book. I wish they would remake it.

this is such a good movie i totally recommend it but i haven't read the book yet but i will watch the movie!!
Posted By: Hubaflam - April 24th, 2010 5:42:09 pm EDT
you people do know that WB is remaking IT hopefully it will be better than the miniseries that kinda uscked but the book was good
Posted By: Baddad - April 5th, 2010 8:54:04 pm EDT
I love the book, but the movie could use some tweeking. Richard Thomas is not what I would call "Big Bill" and Anette O'Toole is no Beverly Marsh. I hope they make a remake of it. The Shining remake on TV was better than the movie in my opinion. No offense to Jack.

Posted By: TJK ERNST - March 17th, 2010 12:09:48 pm EDT
I heard they're making a movie remake of this in 2011. I think that's pretty dang awesome!!! IT is one of my most favorite movies. Can't wait to see what they do in the new one. I hope they add the monster bird Pennywise turns into to attack Mike. Also, the Turtle would be a good add too.

This book was ABSOLUTELY amazing! I have read it like three times, and I'm still finding stuff that I dont remember being part of the story, little details that make the story good everytime you read it! However (sorry Stephen:S) I hated the movie. It ruined the book! There wasn't even 3/4 of the things that were in the book in the movie, and that was the stuff that made the book good! But I guess its hard to fit all of that into a movie huh? Either way, great book!!!
Posted By: Gus - March 6th, 2010 1:34:09 pm EST
Amazing book, I'm currently reading it and as I go through it, I realize how much the movie left outside which makes it such a great story. This movie definitively marked my childhood. Greetings from Argentina Stephen!

The scariest book I have ever read. This book is the reason I don't like clowns. I read this as a h.s. freshman in 1990 and I still sleep with a light on. I haven't seen the movie because the book was more than enough for me. If they remake the movie I'd probably be too afraid to watch it also.
Posted By: Seanzo - December 3rd, 2009 4:01:28 pm EST
The book was wayyyyyyyyy better. The movie was... okay but the book was way better. I heard that they were planning to do a theatrical remake of the book due out in 2010 or 2011. I hope it's true and if it is, i hope it's better than this version of the masterpiece novel.

Im quite interestesed and terrified by this film, i don't read much fiction but i want to read more books about this, I am quite young and want to read to learn but most books r boring. I like hooror but this will make me read more All i need to know which book is based aroung IT

I watched the movie right after i read the book so it seemed crapy at first but it really just had a lighter demeaner

This book is the scariest pice of fiction I have ever got my hands on, scard the hell out of me when I was 14 back in 89, I can easily say that Pennywise was (and still is) my reason for leaving on the lights when I go to bed.

IT would be intresting to let the young actors plays as the adults. Too bad that Jonathan Brandis who played the young Bill commited suicide 2003, RIP :( But what i really hope they take in the remake from the book is alot more background story, some focus about the history of Derry. Add in Patrick Hockstetters... That "kid" gave me the creeps...
Posted By: Belikov - August 15th, 2009 2:27:26 am EDT
Wow, i love the book so much. I'm still reading it right now, but i don't want to finish. I think it's my 3rd or 4th Stephen King book, but my favorite so far. I'm only 12, so i have my whole life to read every novel he's written (and that will take a VERY long while) Its the most amazingly structured book, and i appreciate the four years SK put into this piece of art!
Posted By: Djinn - August 12th, 2009 7:07:40 pm EDT
I think if a remake of this movie should ever come about it should have more Pennywise for sure and add a lil more gore and blood to it ,but otherwise i still like the original movie .
Posted By: Benjamin - August 3rd, 2009 5:32:35 pm EDT
Probably the most frightening thing I've ever read or seen. The first time I read the book, I nearly fainted in the subway. Thank you, Mr King!
Posted By: Morgan - July 12th, 2009 5:35:17 pm EDT
I think it should be redone, but have the people who played the kids in the film play the adults. They would have to find someone else to play georgie and younger Bill, but they absolutely HAVE to keep Tim Curry as Pennywise.
Posted By: Shieldsy - July 12th, 2009 9:50:23 am EDT
was there ever a part 2 made of the film . because my copy ends were one man has been killed in the bath with the word (it) in blood on the wall. if so were can i get a copy?
[You may have one of the double-sided DVDs. Try turning it over.]
Posted By: Donna - July 8th, 2009 3:03:08 pm EDT
Is there more than one version on this movie? I just bought a copy on dvd and it seems to have some scenes missing that were on my older vhs copy that's missing! Like the scene where Richie's little brother gets snatched, Richie builds the boat for him....etc...I NEED the whole version!
Posted By: Maturin - June 14th, 2009 10:54:51 pm EDT
i was just thinking about how they should try and remake this movie. And i seen that they might be doing it. But i hope they make it come close to how sick the book but that's gonna be hard to do without getting rated NC-17 cause if there gonna be make true to the book then it has to be more than an R rating.
Posted By: Cherrelle - June 10th, 2009 3:12:05 pm EDT
this is a classic...that does not need 2 be remade...stephen king is the best writer ever although i would love 2 see rose madder on film
Posted By: Tina - May 31st, 2009 6:39:26 am EDT
leave it alone dont mess with a classic they really shouldnt be re-making this if they do nobody will come close to playing IT like Tim Curry did.

I saw this movie when I was five years old and been terrified of clowns ever since!
Posted By: Anonymous - May 11th, 2009 12:55:59 pm EDT
I don't want a new book, or a second one, but I want them to RE-MAKE it like they remade The Shining, and make it WAY better.
Posted By: Secourtney - May 9th, 2009 10:54:41 pm EDT
I think that this Made for TV movie needs to be remade as a full length motion picture, and really delve into the story line and not sugar coat it as they did for commerical TV.

this is a really good movie scared the hell out of me when i wacthed this at 7 years old! i would love to see a remake but if they dont recast tim curry or do a quick 2 hour film i wont watch it besides with todays graphics they can put alot more from the book into a remake the original tv series was made in 1990 so yes 20 years later i would think the graphics would be great hope they recast tim for the role!

I LOVED the book and this movie! Terrific actors! Tim Curry was a perfect choice for the part of Pennywise the Clown. R.I.P. John Ritter and Jonathan Brandis!
Posted By: Alberio - March 3rd, 2009 3:47:52 pm EST
I have to say that, while this movie will forever remain a classic, the book was better (As it normally goes with book based films). I do think that the reason for this is mainly because it was a made for TV film, thus they weren't able to put in all the great things from the book, because it had to be censored enough for the airwaves. I believe that if this film/book was re-made as a true big-screen film, that it would do great, because they could go the whole nine yards with todays graphics, and they could put in everything that was in the book. Sure it would make the film rated, "R", but with how many 'R' rated films there are now, I don't think it would be that big of a problem.

This movie was a great adaptation of the book, but not a very spot-on performance. Once you read thebook, there is a lot of great parts that they didn't use. But you have to hand it to Stephen, a book more than 1000 pages condensed into an hour and a half really can't be done unless watched at the speed of a hummingbird.

i just love this movie stephen king is the best writter in the world. i want to have everything he has ever written. sometimes i wonder if these books are based on someting that might or could happen in the world. i watch this movie every chance i get, never in broad day light. because ITs more scary that way.
Posted By: Spike - November 5th, 2008 8:16:42 pm EST
Is there any possibility of IT being remade just like Salem's Lot? The only difference would be if it were done by HBO, which would mean a 12 or 13 hour series just like Oz, Deadwood, The Sopranos, etc. This would mean the finished product would be nearer to the actual book because of censorship and other time cutting issues. Don't know what you think! IT is still one of the best books of all time, period.

Love all ur work!

This movie is the only movie I have ever seen that sends chills up my spine. Tim Curry is the master of the shape shifting monster. I only wish they had put the house on Neibolt Street in there somewhere, that would have freaked everybody out just like it did with me. Pennywize Lives!

This movie defined my childhood, and will always be my favourite. My mum has always been a huge stephen king fan and she would sometimes let me watch his films with her when I was a kid. The first time I saw IT, I was scared, but when I went to school the next day it was ALL i could talk about for weeks. It was creepy and unsettling, but I wanted all my friends to see it and share the experience with me. I was thrilled to death that it juiced my imagination so much. As with everyone who watched it as a kid, I'll never be 100% comfortable with clowns, but as I get older and continue to appreciate the movie in different ways, I do feel a little uncomfortable now when I see Tim Curry hahaha

Scary frightening and thrilling at the same time. IT was a nightmarish composite of chills and horror in a small town named Derry. Stephen King illustrated the charactors, events, dramatizations, and local scenary to the tee. Two thumbs up plus an outstanding standing hoorahh.

I loved the novel and Tim Curry as Pennywise in the movie. I just wish that the movie didn't cut so much out and change things that I thought didn't need to be changed.

Excellent book, my favorite just behind the Stand. They need to redo this mini-series though, with today's technology and what is allowed on TV. Maybe even do it for cable like HBO or something.
