I read this book the first time when I was 16. My parents were away on a trip and it was just me and my older brother in the house. It scared me plenty to read this with no one around our normally loud house. It was easy to imagine it was happening for real as I read it...kept me up nights and I LOVED it!

love fantasising about a silent, dead world where all technology is still lying around, but no-one apart from the 'chosen few' are around to use it and keep me company. Lot like 'Omega Man' or 'I am Legend' for you younger gen readers! Those crazy Islam extremists will one day let off something biologically nasty and cause all this to happen. One can only hope it takes them with it- need peace to enjoy the empty world.....

I'm 52 years old and literally grew up reading Stephen King from his earliest works until now. I've read The Stand three times including the uncut version. Although The Dark Tower series is his magnum opus, The Stand in my opinion is still his unchallenged masterpiece. It is one of the finest tales in all of literature and is a soaring, hope-filled, glorious saga of the fundamental battle which has always raged throughout time: Good vs. Evil. I believe, as Mr. King does, in the Coming of the White and I also believe our world will witness an Ultimate Battle someday. Call it Armageddon or what you will, but The Stand is prophetic. And Stephen King is America's prophet. I want to be on the side of Mother Abagail.

STEPHEN KING RULES

Although the characters have change from the movie of the same name, and as long as King keeps the story line constantly moving, like he does with so many of his stories and movies, I think that this graphic novel will take off. Since King has been writing for over 30 years, his stuff will never slow down or get old. You also have to love the rural settings he puts in his books. Also, the writers and artists that did this graphic novel are some of the best from Marvel Magazine. Good like to Stephen King and all for giving their fans something else to cringe in fright over!

The Stand has been my Bible since the first time I read it. I am a Wiccan, and feel this book truly tells the story of good vs. evil in our world today. I cannot tell you how many times I've read it, but I now have three copies and my daughter has two. I love the message and the characters. Everything about this book is perfect.

Stephen King has awesome insight of humanity. Through brilliant expression of his knowledge, he has mastered the art of writing like no one else I have read.

I first read The Stand when I was in high school in three feverish days - I literally could not put it down! When the expanded version was released needless to say I bought it immediately and reread the entire thing. Since then I'd say I've reread the book in its entirety at least 4 times and I still take it out every once in awhile to read my favorite passages again. In my opinion this book is Stephen King's masterpiece. You never lose interest and you can't wait to find out how it all turns out in the end. My favorite characters are Nick and Tom Cullen but there were many others I enjoyed as well. You will laugh, you will feel anger, you'll be overjoyed, you will be horrified and yes, you will cry. It really is that good! For those of you who haven't read it yet - get thee to the bookstore ASAP and buy yourself a copy! I swear you won't regret it!!

There is no way you can be a Stephen King fan and not have read The Stand, it's the greatest epic I have read in many, many years, and I have read, re-read and read again this great novel of the best and worst of humanity. I have given this book as a gift to many of my friends and family and if this book doesn't come alive for you and the characters become old friends and family that you root for then I feel sorry for you. This is not a doom and gloom story, this is hope and valor, honor and deceit and life, life in it's finest hour and it's worst moment. Get this book for the adventure of a lifetime!

I have been a fan of Stephen Kings' works for a long time. I currently finished reading "The Stand" and I enjoyed this novel tremendously. So when I discovered that it was going to be made into a comic, I was enthralled! The illustration of Randall Flagg is by far the best illustration of a villain that I've seen for a while. I can hardly wait to get back from Iraq so I can read this magnificent work. Thank you Marvel and thank you Stephen King!
