Stephen King's "N" although King said he was inspired by arthur machens "THE GREAT GOD PAN" but it has more in common with LOVECRAFT'S THE DUNWICH HORROR. inspiration aside it is a fantastic lovecraftian horror. i loved this story "CTHUN" is a creature from "IN THE WALLS OF ERYX" by lovecraft and kenneth sterling. i loved this story and think it would make a fantastic film.

A superlative short story in the "parallel words thinly separated" tradition of the "Gunslinger" series and "Crouch End". In the story, SK acknowledges his debt to Arthur Machen's great story "The Great God Pan". What he does not mention is that Machen also wrote a short story / novella called "N" -- which is also about "parallel worlds thinly separated". In fact, IMHO Machen's "N" is at least as great as his "The Great God Pan". JIM
