Community Thoughts:  Posted By: Aaron - February 1st, 2012 7:55:48 pm EST I have gleefully read just about all of Mr. King's horror novels, but Pet Sematary profoundly shook me to the core. I read it as a high school student in the 1980s, and the themes of death, loss, grief, guilt and emptiness sent me into a profound depression for an extended period time, during which I could barely function. I don't want to see the movie, or the rumored remake, and I don't think I could ever re-read it. It hit too close to home. I watched my younger sister drown when I was a young child. My leg was broken and in a cast and there was nothing I could do about it. I probably would have taken her to the Micmac Burial Ground too, had there been such a thing. After reading the novel, I was tormented by nightmares of my father (who thankfully is still alive at age 86) dying and coming back to life. I always loved horror and had read many other novels, but never had I been horrified by a book. I remember reading Part III on the bus to school. Someone poked me to ask if I was feeling okay and I damn-near jumped out of my seat! I was pale as hell! Rereading it right now, and now that I have kids of my own, so much more about the book is terrifying. A must read, and my personal favorite. Posted By: Brandi - January 5th, 2012 2:47:15 pm EST i have been familiar with this movie longer than the novel. i read the novel for the first time my senior year of high school and was so terrified but i loved it! i have read it numerous times since then, i even have a half sleeve tattoo in dedication to it because this was one of the first movies my dad & i watched together as a child. this is an amazing book!
