Leland Gaunt opens a new shop in Castle Rock called Needful Things. Anyone who enters his store finds the object of his or her lifelong dreams and desires: a prized baseball card, a healing amulet. These practical jokes cascade out of control and soon the entire town is doing battle with itself. Only Sheriff Alan Pangborn suspects that Gaunt is behind the population's increasingly violent behavior.

Idk what to even say about this story. I assume that all of you have had the good sense to read it (more than once in most occasions). But in the off chance that I am wrong all I have to say is: WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? There is a small town in Maine where a shop has just opened. A shop that will get you anything you need (or want) and then some. You have an invatation to read all about it. I promise you that reading it will give you a whole new perspective on any shop you see with a sign in the window that reads 'open'. Just try to remember to breath, and keep reminding youself that it is just a story..... ENJOY!!

I found the characters in this novel the most well-developed of any novel I've read. I have enjoyed many novels by Stephen King, but "Needful Things" was one of my favorites. I chose it as the topic of my senior research paper this year. I would have chosen "It" but 8-10 pages would not be enough. I am torn between writing about the different characters or the prevailing themes. Anyway, I loved the novel and I'm sure I'll be reading it again shortly, or at least when I'm done with "Misery" for the second time. My goal is to read all Stephen King novels and collections of stories and I'm working on it.

@Ryanne_00 try your local public library if you still need to finish the story at least until you can purchase another copy, it is too good of a story to wait -- and remember the sign says OPEN -- of course
