From the Flap:

The World's Best-Selling Novelist is Back . . .

With an All-New Investigation into the Unknown.

On an island off the coast of Maine, a man is found dead. There's no identification on the body. Only the dogged work of a pair of local newspapermen and a graduate student in forensics turns up any clues, and it's more than a year before the man is identified.

And that's just the beginning of the mystery. Because the more they learn about the man and the baffling circumstances of his death, the less they understand. Was it an impossible crime? Or something stranger still . . .?

No one but Stephen King could tell this story about the darkness at the heart of the unknown and our compulsion to investigate the unexplained. With echoes of Dashiell Hammett's THE MALTESE FALCON and the work of Graham Greene, one of the world's great storytellers presents a moving and surprising tale whose subject is nothing less than the nature of mystery itself . . .

What a great short story and a quick and easy read! Just what I needed after finishing (the first) seven installments of The Dark Tower. Great story, and the ending wasn't a surprise to me at all...the fact that the mystery is still that...a mystery :-) Mr. King, please keep doing what you so very well....tell a wonderful story, and keeping us all entertained! Thank you so much!

I agree with your final authors note about the book. It exceeded what I expected. An exceptional story told by a master storyteller. I do hope Mr.King never lays down his gift.

Read this book because I'm a fan of the Syfy channel's series "Haven". The book was ok, but pretty unsatisfying in its lack of a conclusion. In light of the fact that it only had 2 characters and one location in common with the series, reading it really was a waste of my time. The book had as much in common with the television series as it does with a Red Lobster commercial.

Amazon.com has it - not cheap though. If you have any kind of mobile device that can run the Kindle app, that may be your best bet; read it in electronic form.

Since Haven came out, this novel could really use a re-release. Not all of us have kindle's but prefer actual books.
