One Summer when I lived in a trailer park my friend and I stole my mother's engagement ring from her jewelry box. We joined up with some other friends in the playground (where the best thing to play on was the large section of fiberglass in the corner of the yard) and we decided to play treasure hunt. Our "beach" was the sand at the bottom of the slide. Later, we got bored of the game and did something else. That evening my mother announced to my stepfather and me that her ring was missing. After what seemed like hours of interrogation, I confessed to the crime and my SF dragged me from the trailer to the playground to search for the ring. With a flashlight and perseverance we found the ring, thanks to its sparkling qualities, and we brought the booty back to my mom. My father beat the hell out me. I had black and blue marks all over my back and I had a swollen cheek under my left eye. I didn't really learn my lesson though, since I pirate books, audio and video from a place called Internet.

I have to say the movie was great but the novel took me to far more imaginative place. I could almost smell the woods and hear the old music playing in my head. I really ejoyed this story. I always have since i was about 12 years old. Thank you Mr. King.

It's hard to put into words all the emotions this story, and the movie and especially the song wake in me. I smile and I cry and I laugh every time I watch it or read it, and I do cry every time I hear the song. It's amazing even 20 and plus years later. :)

This has always been one of my favorite stories even before it was adapted into a movie.I thought the actors chosen to play the boys did an excellent job, as did the director, Rob Reiner. I don't know who wrote the screenplay, but they did a good job of following the story line. It brought back some of the memories of my own childhood.
