Pet Sematary
Formats: DVD / VHS
Released (US): April 21st, 1989

Synopsis:

The road in front of Dr. Louis Creed’s rural Maine home frequently claims the lives of neighborhood pets. Louis (Dale Midkiff) has recently moved from Chicago to Ludlow with his wife Rachel (Denise Crosby), their children, Ellie (Blaze Berdahl) and Gage (Miko Hughes) and pet cat. Near their house, local children have created a cemetery for the dogs and cats killed on the busy highway. Deeper in the woods lies another graveyard, an ancient Indian burial ground with sinister properties, which their elderly neighbor, Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne) shows Lewis when the family cat is killed.  Both Jud and Victor Pascow (Brad Greenquist), a student killed when he is run down by a truck shortly after Lewis begins his new job at the local college, try to warn Lewis of the consequences of using the ancient burial ground but he ignores them, much to his later regret.

Stephen had a cameo as a minister at a funeral.

I want you to know that you make wanna be a big writer in the future...I'm just 15 years old...my favorite book is The Dead Zone...your books makes me feel everything...I mean, all the emotions, I feel reading Stephen King. Thank you. You saved me, you still save, and you'll save us forever.

really great movie, and to Kiba, if the cat looked more like a zombie then the ellie (and the others) would know about the burial ground and that would maybe have stopped gage getting buried there, and the boy who played gage was just 5yrs old at the time you can't put him to throw much, I thought that was great acting for a 5yr old.

It was great! The ending was chilling, and Louis looked almost just like I envisioned him in the book. The scene with gage getting killed was disturbing to say the least. Having said that though, I do have some thoughts. Church could have looked a lot more Zombie-ish, and the same thing with Gage. I found the whole Gage killing scene a little stupid, because he just looked like an angry little kid holding a scalpel. I mean COME ON! He was crushed by an 18 wheeler! Wheres the lurching motions that King decribed in the books? Overall, good movie. 7.5/10

I thought the book and the movie were wonderful! At my age, I have read and watched most of Mr. Kings books and movies, this one scared me when I first watched it! Made me wary of Gray Cats for awhile!!
