This is a great movie, as it does exactly what it sets out to do. Scare and shock us into another situation of otherworldly horror. This time it's the machines we built out to get us, nearly lost in the film becuase it appears as a script at the end is the information that a Russian "weather satellite" with missles shoots down a UFO. We are left to guess that aliens had perhaps figured out a rather novel approach to eliminating the human race. This movie is not The Bridge on the River Kwai and the is no Alec Guinness in the cast. That was not necessary! This is an action horror movie and I will never tire of it. It's 1980"s majesty at it's finest. I love the Who Made Who soundtrack by AC/DC and I would love to someday see a release of the non-album music recorded for some of the scenes, it's great music and sets a chilling tone for the events. We need a Blu-Ray of this one!!

I really liked this movie! It was not perfect or horrible but it was a just right film with a few plot details missing but other than that it was great!

Actually a really enjoybale movie, despite the bad critisism over the years. Some of the acting is a bit hammy, so what. Some of the effects are a bit shoddy, who cares! It's a great movie with a great soundtrack to boot. My only ctitisism is the trailer...Stephen King says that although many people have tried to make movies of his novels, he decided that if you want it done properly you should do it yourself. It sounded very negative to all those directors who actually made fantastic adaptions of his work ;Carrie, Cujo, Christine, Salem's Lot, The Dead Zone...were all hit movies.

I remember the trailer... Stephen said: "It's guaranteed to scare the hell out of you" - this is how I remember him saying it; I could look the trailer up on the Internet but I cherish my memory of it. I was young then and while I was unfamiliar with Mr. King's work, my interest was piqued. As it was when I beheld a classmate holding a copy of Cujo, discussing it with the teacher.

Wow, what can I say about this masterpiece from the 80's? This movie isn't really scary, if it actually happened it would be real scary. So the idea King has here is just flat out cool. Come on, a soundtrack by AC/DC? That's cool, over the top cool. I could go on and on about this great flick, it's just... yup, you guessed it...COOL.
