The Department of Scientific Intelligence (aka “The Shop”) never anticipated that two participants in their research program would marry and have a child. Charlie McGee (Drew Barrymore) inherited pyrokinetic powers from her parents, Andy (David Keith) and Vicky (Heather Locklear) who had been given a low-grade hallucinogen called “Lot Six” while at college. Now the government, headed by DSI administrator Captain 'Cap' Hollister (Martin Sheen), is trying to capture young Charlie and harness her powerful firestarting skills as a weapon. After the murder of his wife, Andy McGee flees with his daughter and is pursued by hired assassin, John Rainbird (George C. Scott). Andy and Charlie find temporary shelter with an eldery couple, Irv (Art Carney) and Norma Manders (Louise Fletcher) but The Shop finds more than it bargained for when they discover them.

I like most of Stephen king's books and movies except one. The movie IT. The first and only time I watched that movie I had nightmares for 3 days. But I finally got over that. I never had read or watched that movie again. But The Dreamcatcher was a strange movie. Better book than movie. The movie I would like to see someday on TV would be Under the Dome. That is a really great book. I had trouble putting it down because it was such a great book. I'm trying to collect most of his books and I only have about 8 of them so far. He's a great writer. The best of books I've read in years. Keep up the good work. Mary Morris

I can't believe I was just given that very poster that was used the a theater here where the Dino DeLaurentiis Studio is located in Wilmington when this movie came out....I loved the first one, not sure if I should sell it even tho I've had several offers on it...it was an awesome movie and still is in my opinion.

I have loved this movie since it's debut in 1984. I even remember watching the trailer for it in the theaters. Unfortunatley I was only 11 at the time of it's release and unable to see it in theaters. Because of it's R rating I was not allowed in the theater. So, I had to wait till it came to Cable to watch it. Since that time I have seen this film countless times. I have been a big collector of the memorabillia of the film. When Firestarter 2:Rekindled premiered on Sci Fi in 2002 I was beside myself. I couldn't believe they finally made a sequel. However, I was a little disappointed with the plot. Plus the fact they brought back Rainbird. HE IS DEAD!!! I was so irritated with that fact how anyone could be so stupid to bring a DEAD character back to life. The only thing good from Firestarter Rekindled was the pyrokinetics and the Lot 23 kids. After learning they were gonna do a franchised remake of the original Firestarter done by the wife of Dino DeLaurentiis the producer of the original. Plus have Universal Studios do the film I had to pick myself up off the floor after passing out from the shock. I couldn't believe it. Another dream come true. Finally I will see my favorite story on the big screen. Let's hope they don't screw it up this time!!!

I was just on imdb and learnt that firestarter is getting a movie remake (set to be released in 2014, type firestarter in to imdb and it will come up with "firestarter 2014") and there is talk of making it a franchise. Also pet sematary and maximum overdrive (which I have not seen) are meant to get remakes.
