This is when I graduated from the mighty mighty MVHS! And yes I was enchanted by the story's theme. I [too] know how easy it is to assume about the peoples of the very nation in which we live and how strange life must be from 'elsewhere'. I have walked through corn fields in Maine too and this is an added thrill to the feel! Although, after I read it, I thought this could be an opening, to what the full-potential of this story could be. Great read with vivid "spookiness" and a flash of humor in some scenes. Corn has an eeriness itself: a harvesting vegetable plant that grows taller than a human, and dangles blades of leaf throughout. I dont think I will ever go alone into a corn field!
