While talking to my daughter on the phone the other day and discussing our collections of Stephen King books, I ran across a first edition of 'Salem's Lot that I've had forever. (It still has the suggested list price of $7.95 on the cover. Where can a person buy a book for that price nowadays?) I love this book, although I do remember being so creeped out by it that it made me want to sleep with the light on for a while. Hmmm, I think I might just have to reread it again.

This was the first Stephen King book I ever read. I finished half of the book on the first day I picked it up and had the most vivid nightmares ever that nite. The next morning I woke up and was absolutely amazed...I had never had a reaction to reading a book like that before. I finished it that day!! I've been hooked ever since!!

I have read this book about ten times since it was first published, it is my all time favourite book. The part where Ray and the Doc are in the funeral home waiting for sundown to see if Mrs. Glick turns into a Vampire sends shivers down my spine every time. Brilliant

Salem's Lot is my all time, #1 favorite book! I have read this so many times that the binding is giving on it. I read it on every vacation. Everytime I pick it up it still surprises me how I can never put it back down regardless of the fact that I know what is going to happen!

I always seem to miss the Limited Editions due to travel and work, etc...One of these days, I'll hopefully manage to get one. I'm so glad Mr. King continues to do things like this for his Constant Readers. Thanks! With great sincerity and horrific appreciation...always, Robert J. Grant
