King wrote this book before he wrote Carrie, and he wrote it in a week. After reading on writing, and knowing how poor king and his family were before Carrie sold, I think The Running Man represents Kings state of mind at the time.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this suspenseful adventure . I loved the book. I read the book just recently and was sort of surprised of the ending. Because the whole book leading up to the end, in my opinion seemed like he was going to win. But no that sick twisted mind of King. Simply remarkable.

I am one hundred pages in this book, and I absolutely love it. King create's character's so real and believable, its UN-believable. I really enjoy the attitude of Ben Richards. I am anxious to read what unfolds.

As with everyone else here I really injoyed this story and didn't like the adaption of it. I don't get why they (the film makers that is) didn't just use diffrent character names and changed the name of the game show because that's the only thing the book and the film have in commen. How come people keep saying the Stanley Kubrick film the shining was hardly faithful to the book. Stanleys film was faithful compared to the adaption of the running man, At least the shining had Danny be a shinner and have them stuck up in a hotel in the mountains for the winter and jack goes crazy and try to kill em, the shining seems the most faithful adaption of king's work if you watch the running mam.

I loved the book, I think its an excellent job, considering it was written within a single week, an amazing mind, definitely. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I guess it doesn't worth it!
