Formats: Hardcover
First Edition Release Date: 1996

Synopsis:

The peaceful suburban life on Poplar Street in Wentworth, Ohio is shattered one fine day when four vans containing shotgun-wielding "regulators" terrorize the street's residents, cold-bloodedly killing anyone foolish enough to venture outdoors. Houses mysteriously transform into log cabins and the street now ends in what looks like a child's hand-drawn western landscape. Masterminding this sudden onslaught is the evil creature Tak, who has taken over the body of an autistic boy whose parents were killed in a drive-by shooting several months earlier.

This book was amazing! When I read it I was in shock about what happened and how everything conspired. The ending left me speechless. It was sad yet very good. Applause Given.

I just finished reading The Regulators. It was terrific. This was my second ''Bachman novel". the first one i read was Thinner, which i did not like as much as The Regulators. I live in a mid-west suburb, so I found this book especially scary.

I am approximately half-way through reading The Regulators, and I love it! Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed because there are so many characters. I had to make a list of all the characters who live on Poplar Street, and briefly describe each one. That way, if I get confused, I can refer to the list. Now that the characters are more familiar to me, I am enjoying The Regulators so much.

How is this not a movie? Sorry I love the book and finished in 3 days and was tempted to start back from page one again! Was a little hard at times because i read Desperation first(weeks ago) but names were fresh in my head but wow. Good from start to finish and "letters" at end were nice too.
