As she begins the process of cleaning, she is contacted by an unsavory character who claims that if she does not turn over the papers, he will make her suffer the consequences. Finding strength she did not know she had and never used during their marriage, Lisey refuses, and true to his word, "Zack McCool" begins to stalk her. Lisey begins to remember strange events from her marriage that she had suppressed and finds clues that may help save her life.

It seems to me that a few tales are brought more vividly to life by the audio format, and that this is one of them. The test is whether you must sit in the car, listening, long after you've pulled into your drive.

I have to say that reading her story I had a hard time until the mid way point of the book. Then like a light turned on i could not put it down until the end.

This is a very interesting and intriguing story but it is the single best narration by Mare Winningham that I have ever experienced. She made each character remarkable. I often have problems with women's narrations of male characters. Not in this case. Winningham was brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed the book!

Keeping with my praise-filled comments on the book, I humbly add that Mare Winningham's narration brought 'Lisey's Story' into a whole new realm of REALLY FLIPPIN' AWESOME!
