I was going to be named Jennifer too (yup, 70's child), but my mom said when I was born, they handed me to my dad. He looked down and said "Oh, what an angel."

So out with Jennifer, in with Angela. I used to dislike my name (I think if you were born in the 70s, your name was Jennifer, Angela or Lisa), but now I am usually called Mom or honey, so I actually don't hear my name that much anymore.

    Hi,

It is, in fact, Dalglish, which is a pre-Celtic Pictish name, like Colquoun, Farquar or Buchanan.

It's pronounced something like (but not quite!) Dalgliesh.

And no wonder you use both names, Luli, that's beautiful!

    Long days and pleasant nights

I really didn't care for my first name when I was younger, mainly because the only women I'd ever met named Evelyn were at least 80. I've grown into it, I guess, and I'm glad I'm not a Jennifer (sorry hipmamajen) or Michelle or Tammy or Amy like every other girl I went to school with, but it was kind of a cross to bear when I was a kid. The older I get, the more I identify with it. Unlike the fabulous Ms. Mod, I am bonded with my name. I'm it, and it's me.

Now, my middle name is absolutely horrid, and I would consider changing it, so if anyone can think of a good middle name (or two even) that goes with Evelyn and a one-syllable last name, let me know.

Unlike many people I actually use both names, it was never something I planned, it just happens to be so.
I noticed that at work or at school everyone uses my first name, when I meet someone on a professional or academic level I introduce myself using my first name.
When I'm among friends or family I use my second name, and when I meet new people outside of work or school I always introduce myself by my second name.

Now some of my classmates have become very good friends over the years and they too noticed this, so they started calling me Luli, which is a combination of the first two letters of my two names.

My first name is Lijan -- (pronounced: Lee-Ann)
My second name is Luwen (pronounced: Lue-Ann)

    Weird huh?
I think you have a pretty cool name

I love all my names (first, second and the third one - it's when we almost repeat Dad's name).

I actually do like my name. My parents named me Marla Sharon. I go by Marla, but my mom always called me Marla Jane--can't really figure that one out, but she still calls me that sometimes--she says that she wishes that she had named me that in the first place

I love it 'cause my Mama gave it to me.
(I'll answer to just about anything if I smell fried chicken and biscuits)

My daddy was named Ralph, legally he used Leonard and everyone called him Pat.
    Mama's name is...well I can't say, she'd kill me, it's a state secret..but everyone calls her Pat.
My sister who is no longer with us, was named Jane...everyone called her Patsy.
I'm actually named Patrick...everyone calls me #*@%^*...life sure can be vicious circle sometimes.

I hate my name, it's really misspelled: Johana. Why? My mother wanted to call me: Barbara Ann, and my father wanted: Jo Ann. And then in the Registry Office they understood: Johana! ugh! I would like to change it for Johanna or Joanna, in order to fix the trouble about the H and N. But, I think I also would like to call myself in another way: I really like Dragafari, that's why adopted it as my artistic pseudonym. But about Johana, I doesn't feel it like my own.

Well my first name is Cory. I like it. A lot of people call me Cor(in this neck ofthe woods that is pronounced Coah).

My last name is very french - lots of vowels. Nobody can pronounce it unless you know french. It is a fairly common word in french. I won't complain though, it makes me unique and I'm proud to own it.

In fact, I am happy with both of my names. I have never had a desire to change either.
