Default Good book for a newbie?

    I'm currently reading Everything's Eventual.
Do you know of any other SK books that are beginner friendly?
Is IT and The Shining worth reading if I've already seen the movies for them? Cause they look pretty long.
    I'm 16 if that helps...

If I were you (and I wish I were) I have no more of his books to read for the first time, and it's rather depressing. If I were you, I'd start at the beginning and go to the end. (which is very far off I hope). Carrie, Salem's Lot, The Shining, Night Shift, etc.

Never watch the movie before you read the book. Yes. "It" and "The Shining" are worth reading. The movies are nothing but a pale reflection (if that).

If you like long books, those are both excellent choices! If you'd rather ease into it, Salem's Lot, Night Shift, Misery, Cell, or Different Seasons (4 novellas, so like 4 short books) would be good as well. You can't go wrong just about any way you turn in the Stephen King universe. Happy reading, and welcome!

    Hi,

Yes, I agree about IT, esp. considering your age.

    Or The Stand.

Or or or many others, like the Dark Tower cycle.

I wish I was just at the beginning of my journey. Me personally It and The Shining are long but reading them early can give you a true feel for what Sai King has to offer for future readings. You don't really realize that they are as long as they are.

    Long days and pleasant nights.

You may want to read other short story collections to begin with such as Nightmare and Dreamscapes and Skeleton Crew. A new short story collection called Just After Sunset is coming out in November. Books like The Shining and It seem intimidating because of the length but when I read these it seemed to me it went pretty fast. Check out "The Library" on the main web page for an overview of SK's works. Maybe that will help you decide.

it's strange to me to compare IT and The Shining in size. The Shining isn't that long, compared to IT it's practically a short story LOL.
