    After a dismal Halloween outing, I wanted to see if there was some way to contact Stephen King, and perhaps suggest to him an idea for a new book. Well, my search led me here. So, I'm saying hello....and then to ask the question....does Stephen King read this board, and if not, is there some way I can send a message off to him? I don't care if it's through a third party.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry, but as noted in the FAQ, Stephen doesn't take story idea suggestions as he feels it's better to use those he comes up with on his own.

    I think my first experience with Stephen King's actual writing was when I was around ten or eleven. I listened to Blood and Smoke in the dark after my family had all gone to bed. Before that, I saw Cat's Eye and after that I read Pet Sematary.

    Anywho, I'm twenty-one now, about to graduate with a BA in comparative literature. I've begun to send out my own short fiction to publications- currently awaiting what I'm sure will be my first rejection letter. I was talking to a creative writing PhD student friend of mine recently who told me she still regrets never writing to Charles Bukowski before he died. I decided I would start writing to my favorite authors, the ones who've inspired me to write, the ones whose works I will always read, and read hungrily.

    Turns out, though, getting in any kind of contact with ridiculously famous writers is close to impossible. So here I am and I'm not sure why I was so surprised. But at least now I've found a place to unleash my devotion to SK and people to talk about the books, stories, movies, and TV shows with. I've suddenly realized- the author I've read the most from must be Stephen King.

    I, personally, was thrilled with my welcomes!! I'm interested to see there's etiquette to follow, and what looks to be lots of interesting people to meet and exchange stories and ideas with (the first time I read "The Stand" was when... etc.) I'm happy to be here, feel welcome, and am reading the suggested "Please Read". Thanks, by the way, for what looks to be a quality and fun site. Onward w/exploring the site and here's to good books.

    Long and long ago it seems, I started up this thread...
    (Frankly, I'd have thought by now the thing would long be dead.)
    Many moons have come and gone and so much since has changed;
    Some folks that I mentioned then have now become estranged.

    Lately, to our sorrow, we have had a dreadful loss;
    A Scotsman whom we thought of as our unofficial boss
    Reached the clearing at the end and, thus, you'll see his name.
    If you came too late to meet Sai John, that's such a shame.

    If you're new to Stephen's Board I thought you'd like to know.
    But that blanket welcome I once offered long ago
    Hasn't changed a single bit. I promise, that's the same.
    All of us on here are really, very glad you came.

    Thanks for the welcome. I'm not what one would call a Stephen King fan(atic), But did enjoy his latest effort: 11/22/63. So I decided to drop in here and see what others thought about it. The time period of the novel and the merging of historical and fictional worlds particularly interested me. Of course Stephen is a great storyteller too (but then I don't need to tell you folks that).

    Thank you MrsSmeej for the welcome in this thread. I wish I had found this MB earlier so that I might have known Sai John. He must have been an amazing man to inspire such love from you all. My sincere condolences.
