    Default Scariest movies ever?

I have a few favorites from childhood that completely addled my poor brain.

    1. It's Alive - killer babies & kids just creep me out
    2. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark - with those little potato people from hell. I think this was a TV movie.
    3. Trilogy of Terror - another TV movie, with an evil tiki doll
    4. The Living Doll episode from Twilight Zone- killer dolls, scary as heck!

The Changeling with George C. Scott scared the living hell out of me when I was a kid.

More recently, I enjoyed the American remake of The Grudge but for reasons other than the frights.

The scariest movie for me in recent years ( getting too old to remember the first ones) was Jeepers Creepers!!! The FIRST time I saw it! ( the first time mind you!!!) Man, that was just too creepy and disturbing! That truck! Big ,Ugly-a**ed, powerful antique dinosaur that it was!!!! In broad day light!!! That ghoul (which turned out later to be at least part gargoyle) dumping the bodies!( in broad daylight!) Something very obviously unnatural under that coat and hat!!!!! ( in broad daylight!) Man, that movie just flipped my boogie-man movie switch!!!!!!! Made me jump!(in broad daylight!) And I am very jaded when it comes to these things!!!!( in broad daylight or not!!!)

Default 'Jacobs Ladder' makes me scream inside...

With me, more of a psychological hell type of movie is the worst.

For instance, "Jacobs Ladder". That's some sick horror. Something screams inside me when I watch that movie.

[concerning what we learn in the first half of the movie Jacobs Ladder]

The government laced their food during a tour in vietnam, with a specifically formulated form of LSD that made them kill everything they saw. Nasty disgusting senseless violence. A few survived. Then years later the memory and residual effects start kickin in...

I had a cat once, that was chased and attacked and tossed around by the scruff of her kneck till she was paralyzed with fear. I called the emergency vet, and met them at night. The cat was acting like it was paralyzed, I had to slide it into a shoe box to bring her in, and after the vet checked her over, he said she was in shock. Towards the very end, she moved her neck a little bit, so I knew she wasn't paralyzed. But the vet told me, even if we paid the couple hundered to have her in intensive care for the next couple days, she might not live, and even if she did, she'd be deeply psychologically scarred forever from it. So I let the vet put her down. The prick made me swipe my credit card first too.

But anyways, yeah, on that subject, I tend to agree with Stephen King's views in his main argument in Insomnia. Euthanasia is underrated.

Concepts concerning the underworld help make a movie as scary as they get, in my eyes. What could be scarier than pain after death?

[concerning the second half and resolution of Jacobs Ladder]

On second thought, he had his black haired angel woman on his side and the big massuse too, and as far as that movie went, those too went to the underworld with him, to give the tortured soul of our hero help and comfort and help battle his demons... In retrospect, all the horror in the movie can't compete with that light.

But considering psychological horror, even cartoon movies made for little children can have horror hell concepts deeply imbedded in them.

Like in 'All Dogs Go To Heaven'... "Charlie... you can never go back... you can never go back!"
