	You can find the avatars in the User CP (far left of the menu bar); there's a link to edit avatar. I see you've found yours already!

Why can't we use our own selected images? Not that the site's images are bad....I just have better ones.

Because someone might put in an image that is copyrighted and not being used with permission or inappropriate. We don't have the time to chase those down to make sure we're not using something that shouldn't be here and have Steve be the one who gets into trouble for it.
