For those of you that are too young to remember, that's the sound a typewriters make when it gets to the end of the thingy... I'm too young to remember what the thingy is called.... not really too young me, I just forgot... too old to remember LOL.

Thingy = carriage return

Yeah, I'm old enough to not only remember the term, but that's what I learned to type on because even electric typewriters weren't that common then. I firmly believe that because of it (and the Nazi instructor we had) I'll never have carpal tunnel syndrome from typing, though, because we learned not to hold our wrists in the position that many people use these days.
