Feeling a little better, but a bit phlegmy and stuffed up. Kiddo seems to be feeling better, he's currently working on a fort in the living room for a good day's play.

Ambivalence is hell of thing my lovely colleen! There be great joys and great saddness in the territory of which you speak! I'll not start a thread on it, but would contribute what I can! There are some really good websites out there, First People is the one that comes to mind. Thats where I got my profile picture. Have a bit of fry bread love! Goes good with coffee and irish coffee both! Haven't made this myself but have chosen a recipe from hundreds to make sometime! ( literally hundreds of recipes for it out there!) Fry Bread is a thing, in these later years, that is quite unifying in the Native American culture! It's everywhere Human Beings congregate and in every home! ( the 'Human Beings' is what the Cheyenne always referrred to themselves as. And is sometimes used by members of other tribes as well. Again in recent years, some of my old friends used that term whenever someone was around who took acception to be called 'Indians'. Most of my friends are older, like me, and still prefer to call themselves Indians or American Indians. But have no problem with Native American.)

I was very privledged to take a course given by a Lakota Shaman a few years ago. A book- The Rainbow Tribe by Ed Mcgaa was suggested reading. It deals with a modern day movement to unite people back to the basic Native American Way of Life.

The following is a site with explanation and further links. It might be very interesting to start a thread on Native American Culture.
