I think taking her last name was a noble gesture on his part. I'm of the philosophy, "Call me anything but don't call me late for dinner!"

When we got married, we both changed our names (we hyphenated. I don't recommend it, but that's a long post for another day.) I was able to change my name by just signing the marriage license with my new name. That was enough to change my driver's license and social security, etc. Davin had to do a full legal name change to hyphenate his name. Court filings, posting in the paper for a certain number of weeks, the whole nine yards. It was a real pain.
