School shooting in Connecticut

This is such a terrible tragedy! And those poor kids who have lost so much, not the least of which is their sense of trust and safety, as well as friends and classmates. My prayers are with all who are affected by this horrific shooting! Newtown Connecticut Elementary School Shooting

NY Times: The gunman, who was believed to be in his 20s, walked into a classroom where his mother was a teacher. He shot and killed her and then shot 18 students in the classroom. He also shot seven other adults, and then killed himself inside the school.

I heard his brother was the one who is in custody after running out right before. Does anyone have any confirmation of this?

Heard that but haven't seen if it's confirmed yet. Just saw that a body was also found in NJ at the shooter's parents' house and police are on scene there.

According to Fox News, the body count is now up to 20 children. They also said the body in NJ was the shooter's father. The mother was the teacher of the kindergarten class. She was killed as were most if not all the kids in her class.

I have to say that I have read this whole Mayan prophecy thing. I'm certainly no expert but ss far as I can tell it doesn't say the world will end on the 21st but it does say there will be a change in the conciousness of man.

After all of this I really hope that's true.

We can't let this stuff keep happening. When 9/11 happened, there were changes in security nationwide. Changes in financial laws to root out terrorist funding.

When a shooting happens, everyone is sad for a few days but the gun laws never change. What the hell is wrong with a little sanity in our gun laws?

Anyone who doesn't want any new gun laws should be forced to look each parent of those dead children in the eyes and tell them exactly why it's so damn important to have one of these deadly toys.
