Fifty Shades of Grey?

I haven't read FSOG either. Not really in a hurry to. I heard that the writing is not that great. If I want to read about S & M, I can always read Exit To Eden (Anne Rice) again.

I don't know. I was visiting my sister-in-law this weekend (she'd just had an inpatient procedure, and is really stupid and mean, but I digress...), and in the presence of my 12-year-old daughter (who still plays with Legos) asked me, "Well, you're the big reader. Have you read 50 Shades of Grey yet?" And I said "no," hoping she wouldn't go on about it, which she did. How it was hot, and how she heard about it from her daughter, and didn't like to read but was listening to it in her car on the way to and from work. I just nodded my head and said, "Oh, that's nice," instead of saying, "Well, if you and your daughter want to listen to wank material in your cars, that's just wonderful."

Whatever you do, DO NOT watch the Exit To Eden movie- they turned it into a comedy (not really even funny) starring Dan Ackroyd and Rosie O'Donnel!!!! Picture Rosie in a bustier and fishnets..... Have you read Belinda by Rampling/Rice? That's a good one, too.

Not reading through the whole thread here, but I won't be picking up 50 Shades anytime soon. I call it 50 Shades of sh1te. Frustrated housewife Mummy Porn. Try having the real thing instead of reading about it. Much better. I have at least 3 mates who don't jiggy much with the husband anymore, but love these books. Really? You want to be tied up and whipped and stuff I shan't mention on here, but don't want to have sex with your husband?? Really??!!! Much better stuff out there if you want to read something of that genre IMO, much better written stuff....Sorry for the rant!

While the BDSM in the books is not done safely (and is pretty mild), BDSM isn't the abuse I am talking about. This book also represents people that are into BDSM as abused, abusive people, which is typically untrue. E.L.James poorly, if at all, researched a sub-culture she isn't into and grossly misrepresented it.

E.L.James is a plagiarist (of Twilight, of all things) and a bad, bad writer, and I would really like these books to just go away.

I gave up on writing my Fifty Shades of Gravy spin off cookbook. I didn't even finish the safe word sauce. I'm weak, somebody spank me please.

Seriously though, I don't get that stuff. I'm afraid I'd giggle too much to get worked up in that special way to participate in such shenanagree. I don't understand the role playing thing at all, you are you and I am me, why don't we do it in the road? Simple. Sex, if I remember correctly, is waaaaaaaaaay good enough on it's own without bells and whistles... whips and chains either for that matter.
