Ms. Mod, can you let us know anything about this? It was on Lilja's Library...

There have been many reports about King working with Aerosmith on their upcoming album. Here is the story:

Aerosmith's record producer has revealed that he wanted horror writer Stephen King to write lyrics for the band's new album.

Jack Douglas, the band's long-time knob-twiddler, told Classic Rock magazine that he tried to convince the rockers that King would have provided inspiration to singer Steven Tyler.

"They looked at me like I was crazy," said Douglas about the unlikely collaboration. "I said, 'No, I'm serious. If there's anyone who's going to inspire him, it'd be Stephen King.'"

    He went on to add:

Steven doesn't need melody – he needs someone who's going to inspire him as a wordsmith. I don't want a guy who's just writing hits right now.

There has been no confirmation on whether King will do this though so it might just have been a fun suggestion from Jack Douglas and nothing more…

It came as news to Steve when I asked him about it yesterday after hearing about it elsewhere. It's not anything he's actually been asked to do or plans to do.

Yeah, Aerosmith IMO is the greatest rock band ever.

Alas! Too bad it’s not true… sure would like to see new takes on some old favorites… “Same Old Song and Danse (Macabre)'" “Dyin’,” “Carrie’s Gone Undone,” “Shock His Way,” “Dude (Looks Kinda Crazy),"and my favorite, which they couldn’t do in their encore when I saw them in concert 38 years ago because one of the band members got sick… aka - stoned out of his mind)… “Scream On.”

Nice one Zel. I recall writing a post on here a couple of years back that was littered with Aerosmith titles...I think it is now lost to the internets though. And we all know I love to talk so I wouldn't even attempt to find it anyway.

Well, that's too bad, because Uncle Steve might have been able to put those guys back on the right track. IMHO, Aerosmith have been an overblown corporate rock parody of themselves for way too long. I'm old enough to remember "Aerosmith" "Get Your Wings", "Toys in the Attic" "Rocks" and "Draw the Line", they were really great then. Hearing $tuff like "Love in an Elevator" or "Crying" ju$t make$ me $ad they lo$t it in such a big way.

Just my opinion, no offense to anyone who likes the current state of Aero$mith.
