I totally hate it , no reason why really , but the second I hear it I have to turn off the radio/tv , it just really REALLY annoys me
....agree totally, Sinead is like an icepick in the ear...and bit of trivia?..."American Pie" was hilarious back in the day, when we actually spun vinyl, coz on a 45 they couldn't fit the whole song on one side-half was pressed on one, half on the flip! You actually had to have two singles on seperate turntables, and hope you were smooth enough to blend them together-truly "disc jockeying"....
Since I've managed to avoid most of the crappy songs/artists of today by not watching Idols or any other "talent shows", I had to take a journey back to the Dark Ages of Music, the 1990's. From the year 1993: Informer by Snow, all I can say is
"Young Girl" by Gary Pucket and the Union Gap. It always makes me think that the singer's a pedophile.
Lyrics: Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl
With all the charms of a woman
You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe
You're old enough
To give me Love
And now it hurts to know the truth
Whaoo-oh-oh
Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl
Beneath your perfume and make-up
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know
That it's wrong to be
Alone with me
That come on look is in your eyes
Whaoo-oh-oh
Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl
So hurry home to your Mama
I'm sure she wonders where you are
Get out of here
Before I have the time
To change my mind
'Cause I'm afraid we'll go too far
Whaoo-oh-oh
Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl
Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run, girl
You're much too young, girl
Same with Neil Diamond's "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon"
Lyrics: Love you so much can't count all the ways
I'd die for you girl and all they can say is
"He's not your kind"
They never get tired of puttin' me down and
I never know when I come around
What I'm gonna find
Don't let them make up your mind
Don't you know
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please come take my hand
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Soon, you'll need a man
I've been misunderstood for all of my life
But what they're sayin', girl, just cuts like a knife
"The boy's no good"
Well, I finally found what I've been lookin' for
But if they get a chance they'll end it for sure
Sure they would
Baby I've done all I could it's up to you
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Please come take my hand
Girl, you'll be a woman soon
Soon, you'll need a man
I don't really HATE the song "Ode to Billy Joe" I just wish I knew what was going on. What were she and Billy Joe throwing into the water (specifically the "muddy water off the Tallahatchee Bridge.")?
This one always makes me cry, too. It's a sad story about one of the Marines who hoisted the flag in that famous picture from WWII at Iwo Jima. (A proper Marine's daughter knows these things.)
Look, I think Stairway To Heaven and Bohemian Rhapsody are two of the greatest songs ever written . . . but I can't listen to them anymore. I hate radio sometimes . . .
...the classic rocker I work for has a highly limited playlist...three plus decades of radio experience tells me Pink Floyd had more hits than "Money" and "Comfortably Numb"...and AC/DC has more than "Dirty Deeds" and "Back in Black"!!!!! Just a few things that drive me nuts about that network....GAHHHH!!!!
...I had to take a journey back to the Dark Ages of Music, the 1990's...
1990s, the Dark Ages?! OMG, how old am I?!

They were throwing flower petals off the bridge. Not...you know. And I agree with you about Gary Pucket and Neil Diamond. There was an envelope shouldn't been pushed.

Like almost every other classic rock radio station in the US. I just can't understand why they only play 2 or 3 songs from an artist when there are so many to choose from. How many hundreds of songs does Eric Clapton have? Why can they only play 4 or them?
