    Default Crane driver

This was a good story, and its been awhile since I've read it but there has always been something that seemed missing when it came to Edgar's anger. He seemed mad at everybody but the crain driver who caused the accident. I worked construction for three long years, and while that makes me no expert, I've seen those giant cranes in action and the guys behind the controls were always at 100% focus with a second set of eyes watching the rig and another set of eyes watching the boom (arm and line with hook), so to me, in order for that accident to happen, there would have had to be some serious blame on the crain guys not doing their job correctly. I know, accidents happen and nobody is perfect, but if Edgar had so much rage, I would have thought some of it would have been focused on the guys involved in the accident. What do you guys think? Was this mentioned in the story and I just forgot it?

Hi, weave9, and welcome to the SKMB!

It's been a while since I read Duma Key, too, and I may be wrong but I'm not sure the story's focus is Edgar's rage. His recovery from head injury resulting in mood swings, among other things, was dealt with early in the story. Also, is it clear the accident is anybody's fault?

I think the idea is in life Wikipedia reference-linkExcretion happens. So what? So, the right thing to do when it happens is what.

It's not mentioned in Duma...the rages, which dwindle-but never truly leave, evolve from circumstance and sometimes find their target-but the crane operator was not one of them....
