Wow. Count me among the surprised. I love tattoos and I've wanted one for years but never have gotten one. I'm worried that I'll get addicted to them and end up covered ... not that that's necessarily a bad thing.I have a design picked out but I think in order for it to look right it would have to take up the majority of my back ... maybe one day.
Suzana --- ribs!? OMG that makes me wince just thinking about it!
Of the 2 new ones I want, one will be on my left upper arm (to cover my polio vaccine scar) but I'm not sure about the location of the other. Both will be small.
This is the one on my ankle:

Cool thread
I have 1 tatt and it took a very special set of circumstances for me to get it because I'm phobic of needles... I'd had general ideas about a tattoo I wanted since I was about 18 but never saw any design that fit and never met a tattoo artist I felt comfortable around (that's more about me not knowing them rather than anything they did wrong). I have a friend who is an amazing artists and works with all sorts of mediums: painting, drawing, sculpture, etc. A couple of years ago he started teaching himself to tattoo (by practising on himself and a willing drunken friend). As soon as he started I knew he would be the one to do it. Once he'd had plenty of practice and was doing it for money, I described my ideas to him over the phone, along with some colour ideas. He sketched something and sent it to me and it was perfect!
So in my 30th year on this planet I got my dream tattoo, on my back between my shoulder blades. It's a ying yang symbol (yellow/orange) in the place of the sun setting over the ocean. There are 2 dolphins, 1 swimming under the water and 1 jumping out of the water, forming a circle (like the Pisces fish swimming in opposite directions) around the sun. It's very colourful, has very little black in it, and looks more like a painting to me than a tattoo. And it didn't even hurt that much even though it took 3 and a half hours!
I am so pleased with the tattoo and the experience that I now have loads of ideas for more! I want one on the bottom half of my back that incorporates the chackras, with lots of colours, and possibly some flowers and other stuff. I want several DT/SK themed ones and thinking about how much it's all gonna cost I'm thinking I should keep these one's simple, like KA somewhere discrete but visible to me. The only negative thing I can think to say about the tattoo I have is that I cant see it without a mirror and some twisting!
Spooky; that's the problem with back tattoos. You need a mirror to see them. Love the way yours sounds. Cost is always a consideration for me too. I had saved the money for the celtic tree and since my tattooist didn't charge as much as I thought he would; I decidend to have the DT one done. I had been thinking about ever since I read the Waste Lands last year, so I'm glad that I am able to get it done. I think after this, I want to get one more and it should be fairly simple; I want a cardinal on my right shoulder in honor of my mom who passed away; it was her favorite bird. After that, who knows?
And may you have twice the number.
Sorry, breast I could find for ya................

I would love a tattoo but think Iam chicken. I always find king things to spend my money on thou. Perhaps when I run out of wanting everything King .That I haven't bought or if I get a pair of fake balls and alot of courage.
No ink here, can't find anything I absolutely love enough to permanently put it on my body, that's why I am more partial to piercings.
