Did anyone feel totally cheated and depressed when SK killed off Nick Andros ?

He was one of my favorite characters. And it seemed so anticlimactic that it happened 'off screen'

Over the years I have learned to accept all things SK does with/ to his characters. It's part of how his muse speaks to him.

Yeah it bummed me out big time. Things tend to have a karmic balance though...

Nick was one of my favorite characters, too, but I didn't feel cheated.

Yeah but if it wasn't for that particular piece then we may have never had the finished masterpiece to begin with, since this is the very scene that tore down the largest wall of writers block ever to come against Sai King. (At least up to that point.)

You can find the story in 'On Writing'.

It hurt, but I understood-even then, that no-one in his novels(just like in life)is ever truly safe...

I did kinda feel cheated that it happened "off-screen", but the death as a whole served a purpose .

Exactly! If he hadn't died then he wouldn't have been able to help Tom take care of Stu.

So true, so true. He and Tom had such a special bond. Nick was a beautiful soul and he proved (at least to me) that death isn't the end.

Off screen was fine with me--less painful.

Thanks for the reference back to On Writing, 1BachmanKing9, will have to seek that out.
