Default The Dark Tower Video Games.

The following article is from Popmatters, a web-zine that specializes in pop culture. The article has some interesting thoughts on the Tower books and video games.

I've also been informed by MsMod (who I sincerely hope I'm not misquoting) that the contract for the DT movies contained a clause for video game merchandising, and further more it was this contract that slowed down development of chapter 2 of Discordia for a time.

Let me know what you think, especially the idea of bringing the Tower to game consuls.

    Thanks.

The film deal did not impact the production of Discordia Chapter II. Discordia was back-burnered in mid 2011 to make room for the marketing work on the many projects that were released last fall.

Discordia is now back in full production and is a little more that 1/2 complete.

I always keep wishing for a Stephen King World MMO.

    It would be endless.

Careful on that article if you haven't read the DT. Some spoilers in there.

I would definitely be buying that! There are only a couple games that I like, and I can just imagine how this one would be. I liked playing Discordia, so a full DT based video game would be right up my alley

What interests me about the article is how it might influence the way games like Discordia might go, or how any possible future platform might be visualized.

By the way, GNTLGNT, CCAL, major apologies for all the spelling errors. I get so anxious to get a thought down that I don't type so well. I wonder if Mr. K. ever has moments like that.

Would you believe me if I told you I graduated an English Major from High School?...How about if I told you I got A's for spelling and composition?...What if I said I can spell The Cat Satt On The Mat?...I'm sorry, that last line should have read The Cat Sartre On The Mat...I'll get back to you.

Okay for the record, I just visualized the fight with Shardik as a video game challenge in my head. First it would be something like maybe running away, then climbing while keeping ahead of his paws.

The scene the lent itself to video game visualization was the idea of the player as Eddie at the top of the tree looking down at Shardik trying to claw his way to the top. I even saw the aiming visor the player would use as both Eddie firing down upon the bear and Susannah firing up from the ground. In my mind I could even see the pixelated phlegm the bear would cough up form time to time, kind of a little extra added bonus there.

The reason this kind of idea would sell is because that seen at least falls into the purvey of what that imminent sage and columnist Dave "Boogerman" Barry called "Stuff that Guys do," the video game scenario works because it's the same as Barry once observed about the Space Program, "It's guy heaven."

Then again, what would you expect from a guy who spent the night with bad gagging congestion. Yup, don't thank me, jus' doin' ma' job.
